This beautiful range of Rayon Spandex Fabrics at Spotlight are fine works of indigenous Warlukurlangu artists. Made from a blend of rayon and elastane, fabric has a moderate stretch and is a great one for all your sewing. Light weight and the fabric has a good drape, making it a beautiful choice for skirts, dresses and comfortable fashionable outfit designs. This ‘Jukurrpa’ (Dreaming) comes from Mina Mina, an important women’s Dreaming site – far to the west of Yuendumu. In the Dreamtime, ancestral women danced at Mina Mina and ‘karlangu’ (digging sticks) rose from the ground. The women collected these travelled east dancing, digging for bush tucker, collecting ‘ngalyipi’ (snake vine) and creating many places as they went along their travels. As the women travelled they collected ‘jintiparnta’ (desert truffle) moving far beyond Warlpiri country and as far as Queensland. In Warlpiri paintings, traditional iconography is used to represent the Jukurrpa and other elements.
